BSI2000, Inc. announced today that it has received a purchase order from the Irwin County Sheriff's Department in Ocilla, Ga., for ClearID2000(TM).
The unit includes the optional gun permit, detainee and child identification modules.
Isaac Thomas, jail administrator for the Irwin County Sheriff's Department, said, "The ClearID2000 system is ideal for our operations. We currently have a live scan system in place, but ClearID2000 gives us much more flexibility in what we can do for our residents. We plan to use it for issuing concealed weapons permits and some detainee identification, but what really has us excited is the child identification option. That will be an important public service we will offer our community. We are anxious to receive the unit and get started."
This is the first purchase of a ClearID2000 system with the added options. The total price was $9,995 for the fully loaded system.
The "gun permit option" is a special software module that enables and manages background check fingerprint scans for concealed firearms permits, background checks on teachers, real estate agents/brokers and many others. The module enables the ClearID2000 system to automatically format and print standard FBI FD-258 non-criminal "blue cards."
The "detainee option" module enables law enforcement agencies to electronically scan biometric fingerprints of detainees/prisoners as part of the booking process. The system automatically formats and prints standard FBI FD-249 "red cards" and also stores and tracks the information in an internal database. In addition, the tracking information may be stored on CDs and/or transferred to external databases.
The "child identification option" enables quick and easy recording of scanned fingerprints and digital photographs of children by recording and printing standard forms to help protect against child abduction. The information is stored on CDs and/or printed on cards that are given to parents and guardians for safe keeping. The system is designed for extreme ease of use. If needed, a parent simply inserts the autostarting CD into a PC, which will print hundreds or thousands of "Amber Alert" paper notices with the child's name, age, contact information, photograph, prints, etc.
Jack Harper, BSI2000 CEO, said, "The Irwin County Sheriff's Department will be installing the ClearID2000 system with the new optional modules in order to make the county a safer place. When you read the headlines, it is clear that there is a need for this technology in today's world. We are glad that Irwin County chose BSI2000 for its detainee, gun permit and child identification security needs."
