Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it has won a task order to support the Department of Defense (DoD) Biometrics Fusion Center (BFC).
CSC estimates the value of the task order, which has a one-year base period and a one-year option, to be approximately $22 million if the option is exercised.

Under the terms of the award, CSC will develop, implement and support the Biometric Identification System for Access, a system that will evaluate fingerprints and other biometric data from non-U.S. citizens before granting them access to U.S. military facilities.

"Biometrics is a vital part of the security process our troops rely on to screen persons requesting access to military bases and facilities in Iraq," said Jose Jimenez, president of CSC's Enforcement, Security and Intelligence organization. "CSC has extensive knowledge and experience in security and advanced identity management to deliver the results necessary to help the Department of Defense Biometrics Fusion Center achieve its mission and objectives."

Teaming with CSC are several small businesses including Azimuth Inc., of Morgantown, W. Va., and Galaxy Scientific Corporation, of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.

The BFC is the test and evaluation facility for DoD Biometrics. The BFC leads and facilitates the integration of databases, systems, and processes to support a biometrically-enabled, enterprise-wide DoD identity management capability.
