ULISSE positioning unit integrates FCB-EX980P camera to meet the needs of demanding surveillance applications
The first collaboration between Sony Europe’s ISS (Image Sensing Solutions) division with Videotec, a leading manufacturer of CCTV products, brings together the ULISSE positioning unit and a top of the range, feature-balanced Sony FCB-EX980 Series C camera into a fully integrated surveillance unit. The ULISSE surveillance unit can be used in a variety of installations but is well suited to demanding security and monitoring applications such as coastal control, urban and traffic monitoring and perimeter surveillance.
The complete Videotec ULISSE system combines a state-of-the-art P&T (pan and tilt) head and a high performance Sony day / night camera, in an outdoor housing, together with a telemetry receiver. This reduces the need for several harnesses, and delivers users with superb picture quality and high-performance positioning for demanding security applications
The unit guarantees optimal camera performance outdoors, even in the harshest of environments. It delivers continuous horizontal rotation with maximum speed of 100°/s speed with 0,05° tracking accuracy. The ULISSE surveillance unit offers patrol, pattern and dynamic video masking of different content areas. Users can control the unit with a choice of multi-protocol communications via RS232, coaxial or RS485 / RS422 interfaces. It is weatherproof to standard IP66, has a load rating of 20Kg, and is optionally fitted with a wiper and IR (infra red) illuminator fittings.
The Videotec surveillance unit is based around a Sony FCB-EX980 Series C camera module with 26x optical zoom and 12x DSP-based digital zoom allows users to home in on small or distant objects with exceptional clarity. The camera offers a balanced feature set providing a unique spherical privacy zone masking (S PZM) function along with a host of other functions setting it apart from other high-end cameras in the marketplace. It provides exceptional performance under low light conditions and has a SMART lens control feature that substantially reduces the lens wear – both features vital in 24 hour monitoring applications.
Sony’s FCB-EX980 Series C spherical privacy zone masking function ensures conformance to national and international privacy requirements, and is an essential feature for dome cameras used in wide-area monitoring applications. It allows masking to be automatically interlocked with the camera’s tilt, pan and zoom operations, regardless of camera angle. In contrast with competing solutions, the system automatically adjusts the size of the masked area as the zoom is operated, and can keep masked areas covered even when the camera is circling. Gianni Viero, Marketing Manager at Videotec said, “The balance of high quality features offered by Sony’s FCB-EX980P camera module has given us the desire and confidence to offer a fully integrated surveillance unit. Together with Sony we really we are providing our customers with truly competitive solutions.”
“Ulisse solution will answer to current end users needs as it combines perfectly Sony knowledge in component cameras & Videotec recognized expertise in doing state of the art & reliable PTZ units”added Mr. Julien Dalle Sony Image sensing solutions European Product Manager.
