A new interactive CD-Rom, sponsored by the Government Office for the East of England and endorsed by the region's police forces, has been developed to help local businesses tackle crime, which, on average, affects their bottom line to the tune of £5,000 each per year.
Each police force in the region will be distributing 1000 CDs to local businesses in their community. The CD features information and advice on a variety of security measures and other tactics that can be employed to reduce the risks of becoming a victim of crime. It includes sections on:
* Business Crime * Home Security * Terrorism * Vehicle Security, and * Robbery
Also included is a comprehensive risk management guide to enable companies to identify and assess potential risks and take appropriate action, as well as a list of relevant contacts that can be sourced for further information on business crime issues.
Kevin Jones, Business Crime Reduction Adviser, at GO-East, said:
"We hope that this CD will provide firms in the region with a useful tool to assist them in reducing crimes against their business. This type of crime has a real impact, not just on the individual businesses affected, but also on the wider community and on the economy of the region."
"The Government Office is committed to supporting the region's police forces in their work to reduce crime, in all its forms, to create safer and stronger communities."
Suffolk Chief Constable, Alastair McWhirter, speaking as regional business crime reduction champion said:
"To have safe, strong communities - business needs to be able to flourish and to create the jobs and wealth that supports society. The information on this CD-Rom will help do that and help prevent and reduce crimes against businesses."
