ADVANCED CUSTODIAL LOCK MANUFACTURER FORMS ANOTHER CELL DOOR PARTNERSHIP PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 04 September 2006
Leeds based (UK) manufacturer of advanced cell locks, Pickersgill-Kaye Ltd, has formed a trading partnership with a fast emerging cell door supplier, to provide an integrated custodial product service.

Pickersgill-Kaye, which produces a high quality eight lever Kaye Class 1 Cell Lock, has teamed up with GAME Engineering Ltd of Witham St Hughs, near Lincoln. GAME has recently been gaining significant market penetration for its range of cell doors for Police cells, Crown Court, HM Prisons & Young Offenders Institutes and Immigration Removal Centres

GAME Engineering Ltd, a privately owned business which was established in 1986, has grown by working in partnership with its customers and has earned an excellent reputation for systems expertise, innovation, quality and service.

The company's Prison and High Security Department Manager, Kevin Bennett, commented on the link with the lock manufacturer: "Our attitude is that we stand or fall on the quality of our product, so to be able to have a partnership with the company that manufactures the best in lock technology is a very positive development."

He added: "Pickersgill-Kaye has been very thorough in its development of the custodial lock and the company's philosophy is very complementary to our approach. We know our products aren't the cheapest but they are amongst the best."

The Kaye Class 1 lock was developed after an intensive two-year development programme and in consultation with an independent UK government department.

Its development led to the creation of a new performance standard (SS317 by Sold Secure Ltd) - the first time a written standard has been available to the industry. Pickersgill-Kaye described it as 'internationally respected proof of excellence'.

The Kaye Class 1 Cell Lock has already been installed in a number of custodial facilities around the UK and it is gaining a growing reputation for its safe and reliable performance, as well as installation and maintenance cost savings.

Amongst satisfied users is a major consortium building in the North East, which selected the Kaye Class 1 Cell Lock for two prestigious new high security police headquarters in Cleveland.  The Essex Police Authority had the innovative cell lock installed in the new Basildon police station custody suite.

Significantly in terms of the potential for the Pickersgill-Kaye and GAME partnership, West Mercia Police selected the Kaye lock after it was recommended by GAME for use in new build custody suites.

John Moore, Pickersgill-Kaye's Business Development Manager for security and engineering products, commented: "GAME's advance into the custodial sector has reflected our increasing penetration of the market as GAME developed their door at the request of the Home Office. Like us, they take great pride in operating to the highest standards of conduct and practice, using the most appropriate and proven materials. GAME Prison and Police cell doors and accessories are gaining ground and our shared philosophy provides a good foundation for our link."
