Portable protection system for vulnerable individuals PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 19 January 2007
FM Electronics (FME) will continue to strengthen its position as a specialist provider of wire-free alarm systems to both police forces and the military with its latest addition to the successful FM2000 range.  The new compact portable unit is to be showcased at HOSDB 2007.

A growing number of domestic, racial and other violent incidents consume a high proportion of police resources.  However a 24-hour police presence is often not a practical solution, or one that is sustainable.  FME can now provide a quick and reliable personal protection system, which can be fully operational in a few minutes - providing individuals with a monitored alarm system, for complete peace of mind.

Special emphasis has been placed on making the unit as easy as possible to deploy and use - for both victim and installer.  It does not rely on mains power to operate – it has a 30-day continuous battery life.  The unit can easily be deployed by individuals with minimal training, thus dispensing with the need for separate call outs.

The unit is compact making it easy to conceal and activate, with a light weight activation pendant.  Once in situ the dual signalling system employs both GSM and standard telephone signalling paths.  The system can send SMS messages to designated mobile phones when an alarm is triggered.

Ashley Thomas, FME’s Technical Sales Engineer says, “As a Company we have been supplying the UK’s police forces with security systems for over 15 years, and have a wealth of experience in creating really effective solutions.  Intrinsic to the design of every one of our products is reliability, easy of use, interface to command and control equipment and cost.  We pride ourselves on the quality of our customer relations and technical support – our help teams take a pride in supplying and supporting our products”.
