Security is an important consideration for many businesses, but for those whose takings consist almost exclusively of cash such as vending or gaming operators, casinos, amusement arcades and theme parks – it’s vital.
For these businesses it’s not uncommon for thousands of pounds to be deposited in low security kiosk tills, then bagged and transported to the bank in an unprotected car or van. Such transport methods make a highly attractive soft target for criminals – and the lack of any real security makes life a lot easier for those intent on stealing the cash.
To help prevent such thefts Camlock Systems has launched a range of transit safes specially designed for those who regularly collect and transport money, carry valuables or sensitive documents in vehicles. The safes are designed to protect both the drivers and their valuable cargoes from criminals and represent a more sensible alternative to carrying unsecured cash in the back of a car or van – something that is still a remarkably common practice! The safes come in two styles, removable and fixed. The removable model is fitted with two high security Camlock Systems’ locks. One allows the safe to be removed from its base-plate, the other gives access to the safe itself. This allows the safe to be detached from a fixing plate in the vehicle to allow for interchange between the money-collectors and relocation to an office for banking. The fixed model is designed for permanent installation in a vehicle and has a single lock, which only allows access to the safe. Both safes feature a cash slot through which cashiers can deposit bank notes if required, while their rugged construction provides protection against the risk of criminal attack while storing or transporting cash or valuables. Both safes feature Camlock high security locks that are drill, pick and pull resistant and have five million different key combinations. Keys are stored away from the location of the safe and every key can be registered with Camlock. Replacements can only be obtained with proper accreditation. In addition, to deter attacks on drivers, every safe carries a clearly printed message that the driver does not carry any keys to the safe.
