G4S Security Services (UK) has appointed Michael Messinger, a former Commander in the Metropolitan Police, as a senior consultant. Messinger, who was responsible for public order policing, emergency planning, officer safety and counter-terrorism, will provide advice to both the management and specialists across the company.
During his time with the Metropolitan Police Michael Messinger co-ordinated the multi-agency response to the July 7th 2005 terrorist attacks on London and the counter-terrorist response to the September 11th attacks. He was also responsible for planning and commanding policing operations for the Millennium, the Golden Jubilee and VE Day as well as the funerals of Princess Diana, Princess Margaret and HRH Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Douglas Greenwell Sales & Marketing Director of G4S Security Services (UK) comments: “We are very pleased to have the benefit of Mick Messinger’s considerable experience and specialist expertise. He’s been a senior member of the Met during some of the most difficult times for London and the country as a whole. His knowledge will prove invaluable to our staff and customers as we look to offer ever more comprehensive security services.”
Michael Messinger said, “I’m delighted to be working with G4S. As the country’s leading private security company it is ahead of the market in terms of the range of services it can offer customers. The last few years have clearly demonstrated the role that the private security industry plays in protecting businesses and the public. As this role develops, it is crucial that the industry works in tandem with the police and security services. I hope that I will be able to provide some useful guidance, particularly regarding security planning for major events.”
