SIA: No Special Arrangements PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 28 March 2006
Following the introduction of licensing for the remaining Security Guarding sectors, it has been reported that some security companies are claiming to have agreed 'a special arrangement' with the Security Industry Authority (SIA) which allows them to deploy unlicensed security operatives. No such 'special arrangement' exists with any company.

Andy Drane, SIA Deputy Chief Executive said:

"I want to give my absolute reassurance that there are NO special arrangements for any companies. Not only would that be unethical and unprofessional, but the SIA has no authority or power to do so.

We have published our enforcement approach which makes clear that we expect compliance with the law at all times, while outlining factors we take into account when considering enforcement action. Our approach applies equally to all.
